How to apply for membership of the NNA

The NNA is pleased to welcome as members well trained Nutritional Therapists and Naturopathic Nutritional therapists. Applicants will need to demonstrate they meet the standards of the NNA with regard to training and must work within the National Occupational Standards. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a naturopathic approach to health care.

Membership type available are, Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist, Nutritional Therapist, Associate Membership and Student Membership.  We also have a non-practising membership for therapists.  More information can be found below.

Full Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist Membership is for practitioners who have successfully completed a recognised professional training course in:

  • Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy – as provided by one of the Training Providers listed on the Education & Training pages.

Member Benefits:

  • Full use of the designatory letters templates. 
  • Full use of use the designatory letters MNNA.
  • Published on the Association’s Register of Therapists.
  • Professional indemnity insurance cover at favourable rates.
  • Receive special discounts and promotions from a number of related suppliers.
  • Receive discounts of up to 50% on certain CPD events.

A number of suppliers are supporting the NNA by offering special introductory discounts to our Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist Members; you’ll find their contact information on our useful links.

Please note the annual membership fee incorporates the levy paid by the NNA to the General Naturopathic Council (GNC), enabling NNA members to apply for registration with the GNC without incurring a further annual fee.

For NEW registration you must provide:

  • An appropriate certificate in nutritional therapy.
  • A valid Professional liability insurance to the value of at least 6 million.
  • At least one character reference.

You must also comply with the NNA’s Codes and Ethics, and must meet the competences of the National Occupational Standards CNH1, CNH2, CNH8 and CNH9. In line with many professional associations.

Associate Membership is for Nutrition Advisors who have successfully completed a professional training course comprising at least 400 hours work, including at least 10 hours face-to-face attendance at tutorials, and who comply with the NNA’s Codes of Ethics.

  • Published on the Association’s Register of Therapists.

For NEW registration you must provide:

  • Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance of at least £5 million.
  • Signed character reference (Character Reference.pdf), 
  • Proof of qualifications as provided by one of our approved training providers.
  • Photo-ID: Diving Licence, Passport.

Student Membership is for those of 18 years of age and over who are enrolled as students of either Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy or Nutritional Therapy.
