This one-day course, which follows on from the 3-day on-demand cancer course, focuses on dietary interventions for people affected by cancer. By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Critically appreciate the perspective of people with a diagnosis of cancer regarding nutrition, and the advice they may receive from various sources, and assess the appropriate positioning and role of nutritional therapy within this context.
  • Review and critically appraise evidence for prehabilitation for people with a diagnosis of cancer
  • Review and critically appraise the evidence, safety and appropriateness of dietary restriction around active treatment, including fasting and fasting mimicking diets, and other ‘metabolic restrictions;
  • Understand and apply the evidence on microbiome impact and nutritional manipulation for people with a cancer diagnosis
  • Critically apply a framework for the long-term use of ‘metabolic diets’ for long term use, in people living with cancer, addressing motivational challenges and maintain safe practice
  • More effectively engage and influence other healthcare professions involved in caring for, and influencing, your client
