How to apply for membership of the NNA

The NNA is pleased to welcome as members well trained Nutritional Therapists and Naturopathic Nutritional therapists. Applicants will need to demonstrate they meet the standards of the NNA with regard to training and must work within the National Occupational Standards. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a naturopathic approach to health care.

Membership type available are, Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist, Nutritional Therapist, Tutor membership, Associate Membership, Affliliate membership and Student Membership.  We also have a non-practising membership for therapists.  More information can be found below.

Full Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist Membership is for practitioners who have successfully completed a recognised professional training course in:

  • Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy – as provided by one of the Training Providers listed on the Education & Training pages.

Please note the annual membership fee incorporates the levy paid by the NNA to the General Naturopathic Council (GNC), enabling NNA members to apply for registration with the GNC without incurring a further annual fee.

For NEW registration you must provide:

  • An appropriate qualification certificate in nutritional therapy.
  • A valid Professional liability insurance to the value of at least 6 million.  www.wellbeinginsurance.co.uk 
  • At least one character reference.
  • Photo ID such as drivers licence or passport

Associate Membership is for Nutrition Advisors who have successfully completed a professional training course comprising at least 400 hours work, including at least 10 hours face-to-face attendance at tutorials, and who comply with the NNA’s Codes of Ethics.

For NEW registration you must provide:

  • Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance of at least £6 million.
  • Signed character reference (Character Reference.pdf), 
  • Proof of qualifications as provided by one of our approved training providers.
  • Photo-ID: Diving Licence, Passport.

Student Membership is for those of 18 years of age and over who are enrolled as students of either Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy or Nutritional Therapy.

For a NEW registration you must provide:

  • Be working towards appropriate certificate(s) in nutritional therapy.
  • Be able to provide Photo-ID: Driving Licence, Passport.

Full Naturopathic Nutritional Tutor Membership is for practitioners who have successfully completed a recognised professional training course in:

  • Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy – as provided by one of the Training Providers listed on the Education & Training pages.

For NEW registration you must provide:

  • Proof of working as a tutor for an appropriate nutritional therapy college
  • A valid Professional liability insurance to the value of at least 6 million.
